Preventative dentistry to head off serious problems before they happen
Your check-up is the cornerstone of good dental health. Regular examinations – and the minor treatment which can follow them – can prevent all sorts of problems from arising in the future. Your regular examination will always be thorough and comprehensive, and we’ll take the time to listen to any concerns you may have. We’ll also explain any treatment options which might arise from your check-up. This means talking to you in plain English, so you’ll know just what we mean and what it will entail.
One more thing – you can relax when you come to us. Jillian and her team always go out of their way to inspire confidence in all our patients, however nervous they may be.
The most important visit to the dentist you’ll ever make
We’ve heard it time and time again – but prevention really is better than cure. We try to make sure that our patients never miss an appointment with the dentist or hygienist. And once you’re here, you’ll see that the ‘quick once over’ is a million miles from what happens at Larne Dental Centre.
An important aspect of your check-up will be assessing your gums and soft tissues as well as your teeth. Gum disease can cause significant harm so it’s crucial that we spot any signs early, while there’s still time to treat it effectively.
Of course, a good check-up isn’t just about what we look for – it’s also what we tell you. We’ll offer you considered advice on your own dental care routine, related to you and you only – it’s not a standard script – and we’ll take time to advise you on the best ways to keep your teeth looking good and staying healthy.
Check-ups normally take place every six months, but as always, we’ll do what we think best based on your individual dental health.
What we’ll look out for during your check-up
Your examination will include:
- A thorough check-up of your teeth, mouth and gums. This will include screening for any signs of oral cancer.
- A few questions about your general health and whether you’ve had any problems since we last saw you.
- Any relevant advice on diet, smoking or alcohol use which may affect your oral health.
- Tips on your own dental regime, including the most effective brushing techniques.
We’ll end by making arrangements for your next visit and explaining what you should do if you have any problems in the meantime.
